Home Cleaning Tips: How to Get Rid of Moths

Moths are possibly the most frustrating insects to have in your home as they multiply very fast and get into the seams of clothing where they are then hard to find. The larvae eat the fabric leaving your clothing unwearable.
Herbs are your best friends when it comes to ridding your house of moths and preventing them from returning. Mix a half pound of rosemary with a half pound of mint, a quarter pound of thyme, and two tablespoons of cloves. Place this mixture in cheesecloth bags and set these around your closet, drawers, etc. Dried lavender or a combination of rosemary and mint will also work wonders. A handful each of rosemary, sage and mint, with a touch of lemon rind and cinnamon, will make an excellent anti-moth concoction. Put a bit of this into small cloth bags and place these in problem areas.
If you already have an infestation of moths and are looking to be free of your winged friends, you need to lure them out and trap them. The best way to do this is to mix a panful of molasses with two panfuls of vinegar and pour this solution into a container. Leave this container open and place it near the affected area. The moths, smelling this, will then be drawn toward it and get caught in the mixture. Be sure to change this regularly. Throw any larvae infested clothing into the dryer. Once the problem is solved, you'll be left with a house full of the delicious aroma of dried lavender and thyme!
