Green Cleaning Tips: Going Green in the Bathroom

In today's environment going "Green" seems to be the buzzword. In the worlds rapidly growing population, something has to give when it comes to polluting the environment. Green Cleaning is rapidly becoming more and more popular with big cleaning distributors like "Clorox" are coming out with green alternative cleaners. Clorox just came out early this year with a product called "Green Works". Not only are green cleaners good for the planet, they are also good for your health.
Step 1
Mix 1 part vinegar and 5 parts water in a spray bottle or bucket.
Step 2
Spray or wipe top surface. Let the solution stand. Give time for vinegar to dissolve build up.
Step 3
Scrub with cloth or sponge then rinse with water.
Step 4
Sprinkle baking soda onto cloth or sponge and on stains. Scrub then rinse. Repeat on problem areas.
Step 5
Mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 10 parts water in spray bottle, Spray on the surface and let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes, then scrub and rinse.
Step 6
Sprinkle baking soda into the toilet bowl, then squirt with vinegar and scour with a toilet brush. Cleans and deodorizes.

- White Vinegar (Acetic Acid): dissolves hard water, grease or grime build-up.
- Baking Soda: A non-scratching abrasive that lifts grime off porcelain and other surfaces.
- Hydrogen Peroxide: Environmental alternative to chlorine bleach. Disinfectant kills bacteria, mold and mildew. Breaks down quickly in the environment. Hydrogen peroxide is available at most pharmacies. Also sold as peroxide bleach.
- For problem hard water and calcium stains such as on toilets, use vinegar at full strength and let stand for a longer period of time.
CAUTION... Vinegar and peroxide are irritants to skin, eyes, nose and throat. Avoid direct contact with skin eyes and clothing.
- Use ventilation.
- Borax can be toxic to small children and pets, keep well out of their reach. Always refer to safety precautions on the package.
