Green Cleaning Tips: Furniture Polish

Bookmark and Share Print Email

Going green doesn't mean you have to give up the healthy glow and scent conventional furniture polishes provide. But despite the shine and fragrance many furniture polishes provide, many feature toxic chemicals that threaten the environment and indoor air quality. Use the green cleaning steps below to make your own Go Green furniture polish.

Step 1
Add 1 lemon in a cup.

Step 2
Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil.

Step 3
Add 1 teaspoon water.

Step 4
Add 1/2 lemon.

Method
Extract the juice from the lemon. Mix with oil and water. Apply a thin coat on your wood surface and let sit for five minutes. Use a soft cloth to buff to a deep shine.

Helpful Hint

  • Hide wood scratches by rubbing with the meat of a walnut.
  • To remove water stains on wood furniture, dab white toothpaste onto stain. Allow the paste to dry and then gently buff off with a soft cloth.
